Curriculum

What is Play Based Learning? Young children learn best through play. It ignites their imaginations and creative expression. Children form relationships and learn how to share and interact well. Teachers choose developmentally appropriate toys and activities to inspire children to explore and discover, making play the most valuable learning time in the classroom.

What is Inquiry Based Learning? Inquiry Based Learning is a way of structuring learning experiences based on asking and answering questions. Children are presented with information, pictures, natural objects, or other stimuli, then asked what they know or think about that subject. Based on the questions and interests of the students, teachers plan activities to help them answer those questions. As students make discoveries, teachers document those and bring them back to the class for shared learning, making sure all students achieve the desired learning objectives.

What is Whole Child Focus? At Seed, we are committed to helping children develop in every aspect of their lives. We also help them practice healthy living routines such as eating right, exercising, and getting sufficient sleep, appreciating beauty, and building positive character qualities.

How does SEED bring these together? SEED Kindergarten's curriculum is built on short, thematic units designed to allow children to practice inquiry each day in both English and Chinese. We have blended the Chinese Regulations for Kindergartens and AERO International Standards. Together, these standards determine the developmental milestones we are striving to achieve with our students, as well as content we desire for them to master.

Our curriculum is guided by these basic components:

Play

Play is a critical part of our program and from the inside of our facility to the outdoor classroom, it will be clear that our children are growing in a developmentally appropriate environment.

LANGUAGE AND LITERACY DEVELOPMENT

Involves children’s abilities to convey their ideas, thoughts, and feelings through speaking and writing, and their ability to demonstrate early reading skills.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTION

Focuses on the development of skills necessary for learning, such as self-regulation, attention, and persistence.

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Supports your child’s ability to express and regulate feelings and develop relations with others.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT AND WELLNESS

Gives your child opportunities to build large- and small-muscle skills, strength, stamina, and knowledge needed to live a healthy lifestyle.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

Supports the mental processes needed to think, make sense of the world, and understand knowledge across different subjects, including mathematics, science, and social studies.

CREATIVE EXPRESSION

Helps your child creatively explore the arts, movement, drama, and music.

Enrichment Classes

The best learning comes through active participation, which we achieve through daily activities. Enrichment programs keep students energized and help them understand the holistic connection between mind, body, and spirit. Extracurricular activities are not just supplements to the core curriculum. They are a constant means of enriching, sustaining, and deepening learning.

At Tianjin Seed Kindergarten, we believe that enrichment programs are an integral part of education. Our diverse curriculum offerings provide motivation for children to engage in learning, character building, physical development, and creativity cultivation. These programs also lay a solid foundation for children to build confidence and achieve comprehensive development.

Physical Education & Outdoor Play

Physical Education (PE) enables children to become healthy, active, and joyful individuals through various sports and games. Our classrooms utilize a variety of facilities, including indoor gyms, sensory activity rooms, outdoor suspended floor playgrounds, and natural grass fields, to provide opportunities for physical exercise. Through PE, children build confidence and develop problem-solving skills. They can enjoy a wide range of outdoor and indoor sports while benefiting from professional physical fitness courses.
Additionally, our young learners can utilize our spacious sports facilities for various ball skills and physical fitness training.

Visual Arts

Children explore forms of artistic expression using paint, clay, collage, sculpture, and other mediums in a structured and supportive environment.

Music and Movement

Movement, singing, and playing are second nature to children. At Seed Kindergarten, we use rhymes, games, songs, and dances as learning tools for students. In weekly music and dance classes, they explore rhythm, creative expression, pitch, tone, and harmony in group and individual music experiences. Throughout the year, students showcase what they’re learning at seasonal performances. The goal is not perfection, but having a strong knowledge of music and a greater sense of the community and character that are built by creating music together.

Garden

Watching plants grow connects students with nature and teaches them important lessons about life. Our students explore the miracle of growth through weekly garden time, from planting seeds to harvest time. They learn important lessons about nature, growth and development, and good nutrition, as well as persistence and caring for our Earth.
